Growing up in Texas has it’s major perks..and top of the list for me is our annual trip to the Coast. I have memories as a kid of driving down from San Antonio with my parents and cousins to the south Texas beaches. The windows down in the truck, fishing gear in the back, and the good days of beach and sunshine ahead.

Now, as a mom myself, nothing makes me happier than continuing those traditions with my little family, while also creating new traditions to pass on to my kids. One of those new traditions is Lively Beach.

Lively Beach is more than just a vacation destination. It is an entire experience and vibe quite unique to the Texas Coast. From eco-friendly modern rooms, to a private boardwalk that takes you directly on to the beach, Lively Beach is a Texas Bucketlist experience not to be missed.

If you aren’t as familiar with the area. Lively Beach is located in Corpus Christi, Texas on Mustang Island. It’s about a 2.5 hour drive from San Antonio, 3.5 hours from Austin & Houston, and 6.5 hours away from the Dallas area. The brand new resort condominium features a resort style pool, beautiful rooftops, and several outdoor community lounge spaces. The property is also surrounded by nature with direct views of the Gulf Coast.

Checking in to the resort condominium couldn’t have been any easier (especially during these COVID-19 days). You can check in and out online. No need to even step foot in the office. Lively Beach reservations will email you a link to check in, as well as the gate code, room number, and key pad door code. Such a convenient and thoughtful process for any guest, and one that I greatly appreciated after the mini road trip with the kids.

This stay, we were lucky enough to preview the new pool view rooms. We stayed in a one bedroom, two bathroom, with a deck in T-201. This is what you see when you first walk in.
Beautiful right? The space is modern, tropical, and upscale, with eco-friendly touches throughout the condo. There’s a fully equipped kitchen, and a beautiful dining table to enjoy breakfast or dinner with a view.

The kitchen has everything you would ever need for a comfortable stay, a refrigerator, microwave, stove, sink, storage areas, pots, pans, utensils, and glassware.
There’s also a lot of comfortable seating in the condo as well including a couch, several chairs, and a small office space.

The bedroom includes a large king sized bed, garment rack, dresser, TV, and yes another beautiful view. It’s cozy and inviting all at the same time.
Of course Audrey was quick to claim the bed 😆

The condo also included two bathrooms, one next to the living area, and the other attached to the bedroom. Both are spacious with modern showers and mirrors with touch screen technology.

Our condo also included a private deck overlooking the resort style pool, with views of the gorgeous property and palm trees all around. Goals!!

Speaking of the pool…WOW! The resort style pool at Lively Beach is gorgeous. There’s plenty of lounge chairs and even shaded tables to sit at. We had so much fun swimming this year with the kids. This was actually Audrey’s first time in a pool. Not too shabby for her first time 😉 And just look at this view.
There’s so much to appreciate at this beautiful property. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed spending an evening on the rooftop (and there’s three by the way) taking in the most gorgeous sunset I’ve seen all year. This was one of my favorite moments of our whole stay.
One of the most unique things about Lively Beach is the private boardwalk that leads you directly to Mustang Island State park from the property. The walk took about five minutes from our condo to the beach. It’s beyond convenient, especially if you need to go back and forth from the beach to your room. For example, I forgot Audrey’s sunscreen but didn’t realize until after we were all set up with our tent on the beach, but luckily I was able to walk right back to the room for it 🙌 Besides the convenience, it’s also a very peaceful walk at sunrise.

And of course after walking the boardwalk you’ll set foot right on Mustang Island Beach. This is one of our favorite beaches in the area. We find it to be a little less busy than the beaches in Port Aransas or Padre Island. It’s clean, family friendly, and there’s a life guard. The kids of course had a blast! Tip: bring tent, beach towels, sun hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, trash bag, chairs, picnic food/snacks, water, and sand toys if you have kids.
Another thing I love about Lively Beach is that you feel as though you are on your own private island (easily forgetting you are even in Texas). The property sits on many acres surrounded by preserved wetlands, and there no other hotels or condos nearby so it feels private and peaceful but of course in reality you are only a five minute drive to the main road where all the gas stations, beach stores, and quick eats are.
Tip: For all you Starbucks drinkers there’s a really nice modern Starbucks down the road with water views (drive thru line forms early). For quick eats there’s a Whataburger & Sonic. My fav place to stop by is Island Joe’s for a delicious smoothie & tropical vibes. There’s two great beach stores to check out that the kids will love. One is called Third Coast and there’s an oversized shark photo opportunity, and the other is the Mermaid Castle Beach store which is actually called Ocean Treasures.

Drive just five minutes further to Sunset Island and enjoy a delicious sunset meal at Snoopys or Docs. Then head next store to Scoopys for some delicious Blue Bell ice cream.

As an added bonus, Lively Beach is just 20 minutes away from several popular Corpus Christi attractions including the Texas State Aquarium, the Corpus Christi Marina, and North Shoreline where the Selena statue is located. We were able to visit all these places during our stay at Lively Beach.

In my opinion, Lively Beach is the best place to stay in the Mustang Island or Padre Island area. The property is gorgeous, the rooms are clean and modern, and of course nothing beats the location right on the beach. I’d also like to point out that Lively Beach is perfect for any traveler. Whether you are traveling solo, as a couple, or as a group. It’s a great destination for families as well.
